School-Age Care
About
The School-Age Care curriculum prepares individuals to work with school-age children in diverse learning environments. The curriculum is specifically designed for students planning to work in public or private school-age care environments. Course work includes child growth/development; physical/nutritional needs of school-age children; care and guidance of school-age children; and communication skills with parents and children. Students will foster the cognitive/language, physical/motor, social/emotional, and creative development of school-age populations. Graduates are prepared to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities in school-age environments. Employment opportunities include school-age teaching or school-age administration positions in child care/development programs, group leaders, before and after school programs, recreational centers and other programs that work with school-age populations.
