Tammy Small Cox
For Tammy Small Cox her biggest regret was not going to college. She didn’t think that it was possible to pursue her degree until she received a little encouragement. That encouragement came from her daughter, and with a little research, Cox realized that her regret could finally become a reality. Enrolling at Robeson Community College fit Cox’s busy schedule and pursued online and evening courses.
As a mature student with the challenges of balancing a full-time work schedule, two children in college, and all the hats that a wife and mother wears, starting community college has been a morale booster for her and therapeutic for the empty-nest syndrome. Working towards her Associates of Arts degree for college transfer Cox has realized over her time at RCC that the faculty and students on campus were supportive and quickly responded to her concerns. Now she is ready to take the next step in her education and plans to attend Appalachian State University as a junior seeking a degree in Career and Technical Business Teacher Education.
