State Board of Community Colleges to Meet at Carteret Community College

RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges will meet at Carteret Community College in Morehead City, N.C. for its annual planning session and regularly scheduled meeting, October 15-17, 2014.  The planning session begins Wednesday at 1p.m. at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Soundside Hall, and will include an update on the Align4NCWorks Learning Summits, as well as presentations on workforce development, the NCWorks Commission Employer Needs Survey and work-based learning. The planning session will continue at the Aquarium on Thursday morning with a preview and discussion of the Align4NCWorks strategic plan framework.

Committees of the State Board of Community Colleges will meet Thursday afternoon at Carteret Community College following lunch and a tour of the college. The Programs Committee will review a report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee that provides an update on the articulation agreement between the North Carolina Community College System and the University of North Carolina system.  The Finance Committee will take action of the allocation of funds to colleges for grants related to the NC Space Grant.

The full Board will convene Friday, October 17 at 9 a.m. at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.  All meetings are open to the public.
