State Board of Community Colleges to Meet

RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges will hold its regularly scheduled meeting, Thursday and Friday, January 15-16, 2015.

The Awards Committee will convene Thursday at 11 a.m. to review finalists for the State Board of Community Colleges’ annual awards: President of the Year, Excellence in Teaching, Staff of the Year, Distinguished Partners in Excellence and the I.E. Ready Award.

At 12 p.m., the Board will hear a presentation on two proposed articulation agreements between North Carolina’s community colleges and the University of North Carolina system. The first is a uniform articulation agreement between Associate Degree Nursing programs/Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs. The second is a uniform articulation agreement between Baccalaureate Engineering programs and Associate in Engineering programs. The Programs Committee will also review these articulation agreements for future action when it meets Thursday afternoon.

Committee meetings begin at 1:30 p.m. The Policy Committee will hear a legislative update. The Finance Committee will take action on the adoption of the State Construction Office prequalification policy.

The full Board will convene Friday at 9 a.m. All meetings are open to the public and will take place at the NC Community College System Office, 200 W. Jones Street in Raleigh.
