State Board Approves Two New Presidents and Advisory Board Vacancy

RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges Friday approved the selection of Dr. Robert Wynegar as the president of College of The Albemarle (COA) and Dr. David Loope as the president of Beaufort County Community College(BCCC).

Dr. Wynegar, replaced Mr. Kennon Briggs, who had been serving as Interim President at COA since January 3, 2017. Mr. Wynegar, former Vice-President of Student and Academic Affairs at Western Nevada College, began his presidency last Friday. Dr. David Loope will replace Dr. Barbara Tansey who has served as president of BCCC since 2012 and will be retiring effective May 31.  Dr. Loope is currently the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer and Professor at Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia and will begin at BCCC on June 1. In addition, the State Board approved Chris Plemmons, Senior Vice President of Global Manufacturing at American & Efird, Inc. located in Mount Holly to serve a 4-year term on the Gaston College Textile Technology Center Technical Advisory Board.   Plemmons will be replacing Ms. Patti Bates, who has served two 4-year terms on the board, effective July 1.
