Sarah Elizabeth Shepherd
In during her senior year in high school, Sarah Elizabeth Shepherd made the decision to become dually enrolled in the RIBN Program through Wilkes Community College and Lenoir-Rhyne University. Taking several WCC classes during high school did not prepare Shepherd for how involved she could become in her community college. She was also very surprised at the quality education that she received. Shepherd found herself serving in the Student Government Association, as a student ambassador, as a secretary of two different clubs, and peer tutoring. Her expectations with WCC were surpassed and the college provided her with opportunities to be an outstanding influence on others at the college.
Shepherd states that she will always be an advocate of the community college system. As she now prepared to enter the world as a well-trained and compassionate novice nurse, she realizes that the future isn’t all that scary when the experiences of the past have primed her for success.
