Online Proctored GED® Test

Published: July 10, 2020
In keeping with the purpose of NCCCS to deliver adult education programs in North Carolina (N.C.G.S. § 115D-5), NCCCS has agreed to participate in the Online Proctored GED® Test Pilot. The policies for the Online Proctored GED® test are located in the May 2020 Policy Addendum to The GED® Program Policy Manual (“Policy Addendum”), published by GED® Testing Service LLC. This e-mail incorporates these policies by reference. This online Proctoring Pilot effective July 8 is an option for test takers.
Please review the test vendor website at https://ged.com/in-session/testing-update-onlineproctoring_may2020/ for details on online proctoring protocol. For specific questions on this new testing method, please consult the GED® web site.
There will be no change to scoring and reporting procedures; the integrity of the test itself and the reporting of results is maintained as required under the contract with GED®. The Online Proctored Pilot is an option for eligible GED candidates. GED® testing is still available at NC HSE test centers that are open for inperson testing.
The test will be “live proctored” by a third party. The proctors do not have access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and no test information or results are stored by the proctor.
There are no additional fees for online proctoring. The cost remains the same as it is for computer-based testing.
