North Carolina Community College System, UNC System request information from accreditors
RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina Community College System, in partnership with the University of North Carolina System, has initiated a Request for Information (RFI) from accrediting agencies.
This move is a proactive response to the 2023 legislation enacted by the North Carolina General Assembly, which now requires state colleges and universities, including those within our community college system, to alternate their accrediting agencies at the end of each accreditation cycle.
To comply with this new legislative requirement, we are seeking potential accrediting bodies interested in evaluating and accrediting institutions within the North Carolina Community College System and the UNC System. The RFI has been distributed to five regional accrediting agencies, inquiring about their interest in incorporating our institutions into their accreditation portfolios and outlining the process for pursuing accreditation.
We anticipate receiving responses by February 29, 2024, and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality and integrity across our institutions. Read the online RFI document for more information.
