North Carolina Community College System hires Dr. Phillip Price as new VP, Chief Finance Officer
The North Carolina Community College System has hired new Vice President and Chief Finance Officer Phillip Price, former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Central Carolina Community College.
Dr. Price will manage the financial activities and fiscal strategy of the North Carolina Community College System. The System’s Chief Finance Officer manages two branches of the System’s financial health: the government agency’s role, and the System Office’s role in supporting the 58 community colleges with budget, policy, and guidance.
“When beginning the search, various stakeholders were asked who they thought was the very best candidate to fill this important role and Dr. Phillip Price’s name kept coming up,” said System President, Dr. Jeff Cox. “With his strong background in financial management and leadership at the local college level and his great reputation across the state, he is going to be a tremendous asset for our team.”
Price has served at Central Carolina Community College since 2013.
“I sincerely appreciate the opportunities I have been provided over the past ten years. I have had the opportunity to be a part of seeing the college go through numerous changes that will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve,” Price said. “I look forward to the challenges of my new role and the opportunities they will provide.”
Prior to Central Carolina, Price served as Dean of Administrative Services at Beaufort County Community College.
He has a doctorate in Educational Leadership with a concentration in higher education administration, in addition to bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from East Carolina University.
“Phillip has been an exceptional leader at Central Carolina since he arrived and his efforts have helped us continue to improve and expand our services to our three counties while also ensuring that we maintain sound financial resources,” said Dr. Lisa Chapman, President of Central Carolina Community College. “He is a visionary leader who is respected across the System, and I know that respect will only continue to grow as he steps up to serve and guide all 58 of our colleges as well as his team at the System Office.”
Price will join the System on July 24.
