Continuation of WIOA Funding for Adult Education and Literacy Activities

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Community College System announces the availability of continuation federal funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Title II for the period of July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018. This funding supports adult education and literacy activities throughout the state of North Carolina. These funds will only be available through an application process to providers funded during the current year (July 1, 2016- June 30, 2017). The application and submission details will be made available on January 30, 2017, on the community college system website.

With these funds, the community college system oversees the delivery of adult education and literacy activities to over 70,000 students. The goals of this delivery system are to: provide foundational skills instruction for the workforce system; increase accessibility to adult education services in all areas of the state; create a seamless transition to post-secondary education or training and employment; and build a more educated and skilled workforce.
