Cammie McMahan
In May, I will graduate from College of The Albemarle with three Associate degrees and 101 college credits, a week before I graduate high school (J.P. Knapp Early College). Typically, early college students do not think they can participate in a lot of campus organizations or events, but I challenged that notion when I started coursework at COA. This will be my third year serving in the Student Government Association as a campus senator. Serving as a campus senator for COA’s SGA has helped me connect much better with my classmates, professors, and the community.
It has enabled me to personally grow farther than I thought possible in my educational career. Among my achieved credits, the classes that have had a lasting impact on my education were my many science and psychology classes. My teachers have given me a lot of inspiration and I have learned so much and truly developed my future educational goals, which is becoming a Veterinarian, and first earning my Baccalaureate degree in Animal Science, with a minor in psychology. I am proud of my accomplishments thus far at COA, and am incredibly thankful for the vast opportunities I have been granted.
