Ad Hoc Committee on the Future of Community College Nursing Education to Meet
RALEIGH – The Ad Hoc Committee on the Future of Community College Nursing Education will hold its first meeting Friday, October 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wake Technical Community College Health Science Campus in Raleigh.
The Committee is charged by the State Board of Community Colleges with examining the structure and role of the North Carolina Community College System’s nursing programs relative to the need to increase the proportion of nurses with Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees in the state, as outlined in a 2011 report by the Institute of Medicine.
The Committee is chaired by Dr. Samuel Powell, Chair of the Programs Committee of the State Board of Community Colleges, and Dr. Mary Rittling, President of Davidson County Community College. The Committee is scheduled to meet monthly through March 2015 and will provide a final report to the State Board of Community Colleges by March 31, 2015.
This meeting is open to the public and will take place at the Wake Technical Community College Health Science Campus at 2901 Holston Lane, Raleigh, Room HS2-302.
