Research Projects

Direct Support

The NC SSC supports and participates in research to help colleges better serve their students.

The NC SSC currently is involved in two studies, both of which relate to how colleges address non-academic barriers to college completion, such as food and housing insecurity.

  • An Evaluation of Single Stop. This is a randomized control trial around the communications component of Single Stop conducted by The RAND Corporation.
  • A Comparison of Aunt Bertha and Single Stop. This study will compare the cost and effectiveness of these two programs.

Each of these is a three-year research study. When they are complete, the NC SSC will share the resulting reports.
