Opportunity in Apprenticeship
On January 21, 2022, the State Board of Community Colleges voted to amend 4B SBCCC 100.1
Adoption of Federal Rules Regarding Equal Employment Opportunity in Apprenticeship. This
rule establishes equal employment opportunity standards, as well as incorporates and adopts
federal regulations related to apprenticeships. The amendment requires all apprenticeship
programs registered in North Carolina to comply with equal employment opportunity
requirements as mandated in federal law. This language was required by the U.S. Department
of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship.
The amendment will be effective February 1, 2022. The new title will be published on the
NC Community College System’s website, www.nccommunitycolleges.edu/sbcccode. For
your convenience, a copy of the rule in its final form is attached to this memorandum.
